Our patient A. A. (8 years old) from Kazakhstan who was suffering from pectus excavatum (sunken chest) has undergone Nuss Procedure. After consulting with different doctors in Kazakhstan it was clear that the surgery was the only solution for her. After searching on various options her family decided to come to Turkey. The surgery carried out successfully by leading thoracic surgeon in this field Assoc. Prof. Erkan Yildirim, MD. Before the surgery CT scan, echocardiogram, pulmonary function tests are done to determine the severity deformity and the most appropriate surgical options for the patient. Our surgeon able to perform successfully all kind of chest wall correting surgeries. During the surgery the curved metal bar also called as the lorenz bar which is shaped to fit the patient is inserted through a small incision to push the sternum out to correct the deformity. When the bar is placed and the chest wall became to correct shape, a stabilizer bar is attached to the bar and fixed to the ribs to prevent the slipping. She didn’t faced any problem during the surgery or side effects after the procedure. On the 5th day after completing the treatment our patient return to Kazakhstan. Her family is recommending Assoc.
